Mountain Area Tours
LEARN ABOUT THE REGION
Free on-mountain ski/snowboard tours are available at Mammoth and June Mountain, as well as snowshoe tours from the Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center. All tours are offered most weekends and holidays during the winter season, weather and conditions permitting.
Please note that tours based out of June Mountain and Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center have ended for the season.
A valid lift ticket is required for all Mountain Tours and Naturalist Tours. All tour participants must be able to ski/ride at an intermediate level.
Mountain Tour
Get the inside scoop on what sections of the mountain are best during different snow conditions, as well as where to find specific services on this free ski and snowboard tour led by a Mammoth Mountain Host. Offered out of both Main and Canyon Lodges. For Main Lodge, depart from the large trail map sign at the bottom of Broadway at 10:15 AM. For Canyon Lodge, tours depart from the large trail map sign outside the third floor ticket office at 10:15 AM.
Mountain Tours are offered most Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays throughout the season. Weather and conditions permitting.
Naturalist Tour
Follow a volunteer US Forest Service naturalist on your skis or snowboard to learn about the region's geologic history, flora and fauna, and weather patterns during this free tour at Mammoth or June Mountain. Mammoth tours depart from the bottom of Gold Rush Express (Chair 10) near The Mill at 10:30 AM. June Mountain tours depart from the Chalet patio at the top of Chair J1 at 10:30 AM.
June and Mammoth Naturalist Tours are offered most Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays throughout the season. Weather and conditions permitting.
Snowshoe Tour
Join a US Forest Service volunteer naturalist on a free snowshoe tour to learn about the trees, plants, animals and geology surrounding Tamarack Lodge and the Mammoth Lakes Basin. The tour departs from Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center. Snowshoes are not provided, but are available to rent from the Ski Center.
