Meet Our Paws on Patrol

Our 4-legged patrollers are not only cute and fluffy, they are highly trained to help search for people in the event of an avalanche. They are crucial members of our safety team and a big part of the Mammoth family. Learn about each of our patrol dogs and watch them at hard at work.

Chief

Breed: Black Labrador Retriever
DOB: April 27 2008
Began Duty: Fall 2008
Human: Scott Quirsfeld
Favorite Activities: Camping, hiking and roof ball.
Fun Fact: When Chief was a puppy, he would break open the enclosure and lead the rest of the pups to the food bin where he proceeded to pry it open and chow down.

Atlas

Breed: Yellow English Labrador
DOB: 2011
Began Duty: Spring 11/12
Human: Matthew Seibert
Favorite Activities: Atlas and his human both enjoy long hikes and a nice steak.
Fun Fact: Atlas likes to dive off lake docks into the water. Atlas and his human are a certified avalanche rescue team by the National Search Dog Alliance (NSA), as well as members of the Placer County Avalanche Dog Teams.

Duke

Breed: Golden Retriever
DOB: 2014
Began Duty: Winter 14/15
Human: Nicole Deaver
Favorite Activity: Playing catch in Mammoth's Shady Rest Park.
Fun Fact: Duke has serious ups. He can jump about 5 feet high.

Trico

Breed: Entlebucher Mountain Dog
DOB: Feb 4, 2016
Began Duty: Winter 15/16
Human: Steve McGrath
Favorite Activity: Playing with empty water bottles.
Fun Fact: Trico's breed is the smallest of the Sennehund line. His breed was developed in Roman times as high alpine herding dogs from the Swiss Alps.

Luna

Breed: Yellow English Labrador
DOB: 2014
Began Duty: Winter 17/18
Human: Kyle Williams
Favorite Activity: Swimming and playing in the water (Just like her dog dad).
Fun Fact: Luna is the daughter of Atlas.

MEET JUNE MOUNTAIN'S PUPS

Kibbie

Breed: Golden Retriever
DOB: August 25, 2016
Began Duty: Winter 2014/15
Human: Doug Johnson
Favorite Activities: Playing with other dogs and jumping over sage bushes in the desert.
Fun Fact: Kibbie hasn’t met a dog or person she doesn’t like. She loves to watch TV when there are animals on the screen. When she is tired and hungry we can find her napping next to her bag of puppy food.

Jennie Roux

Breed: Black Labrador
DOB: May 2, 2017
Began Duty: Winter 17/18
Human: Eric Diem
Favorite Activities: Fetching her flying squirrel toy.
Fun Fact: Jennie loves listening to humans, tilting her head in response. Her favorite human words are "Bird" and "Toy."
