The Mammoth Story

Where Passion & Dedication Collide

This season, the Mammoth Race Department celebrates 50 years of excellence, passion, and community on the mountain. Founded in 1974, the department has long been the beating heart of Mammoth’s competitive spirit—training generations of athletes, hosting world-class races, and helping shape Mammoth Mountain into one of North America’s premier destinations for ski and snowboard competition. From its grassroots beginnings to today’s internationally recognized events, including FIS World Cup and NorAm races, Rev Tours, Alpine Masters National Championships, and Paralympic Nationals, there’s truly no better place to pin on a race bib.

Looking ahead to the next 50 years, the Mammoth Race Department remains committed to its core mission: inspiring athletes of all ages to push their limits while fostering a culture of on-snow excellence. Its impact reaches far beyond the race course, woven into a larger story of mentorship, community, and mountain culture. Here’s to the coaches, volunteers, athletes, and fans who’ve shaped five unforgettable decades, and to everything still to come.
