Mammoth Mountain ski & snowboard teams

MMSST

Mammoth Freeski team offers programs for skiers 8 years and older. We have a wide variety of programs to suite a wide variety of levels. Whether you’re looking to develop your skills in the park, pipe or as a big mountain freeride competitor, Mammoth Freeski team will provide you with what you need to reach your goals.

Producing top athletes is important, but developing good people with people-skills is equally important to us. Education, courage, discipline, accountability, integrity and teamwork are all blended into the team experience. Success on and off the hill is measured by achievements, not just results.

MMSST registration is closed for the season.

Coaching

Our coaching staff is certified through USSA, USASA, and IFSA; they have the knowledge and experience to help any young skier set and reach their goals. The coaches ask our athletes to work hard towards their goals but there is always time for fun. We want our athletes to enjoy what they are doing so that they want to return tomorrow, next week, and next year. We strive to develop a lifelong passion for skiing and the mountains.

Freeski DEVELOPMENT TEAM

8-12 Year Olds

The Freeski Development Team is for skiers working to develop the FUNdamentals of freeskiing. Training includes the events of halfpipe, slopestyle, skicross and railjam. 50% of training time is spent freeriding around the mountain looking for powder, trees and steeps, and ripping the groomed runs. Freeriding is important for attaining the mileage necessary to practice and refine the skills needed to ski the parks and pipes safely. The main competitions are the USASA Unbound events at Mammoth and potentially USASA Nationals. The Freeski Development Team will be broken into groups relevant to skill level and aspiration.

Ability

The athlete should be able to link smooth consistent turns from the top of Broadway Express (CH 1) down Broadway (blue runs) with a solid basic stance without stopping. They must also be able to ride the groomed runs off of Face Lift Express (CH 3) and High-Five Express (CH 5) comfortably. All new Freeski Development Team members must pass a skiing ability assessment with a coach prior to receiving their uniform and joining the group.

Schedule

Season runs from November through April. Spring Camps are available to all athletes in this program through May and June (conditions permitting) at no extra cost. Freeski Development Team athletes are required to attend 50% of scheduled training opportunities.
