Challenge Yourself & Gravity

5K with 2,000ft of Elevation Gain  |  July 6

This unique uphill 5k race at sunset takes participants from the base of Mammoth Mountain to the 11,053' summit on e-bike, mountain bike or by foot. The race course follows the legendary Kamikaze bike trail weaving up Mammoth's back side. With $3K in prize money on the line, the stakes for the summer challenge are high. Friends and family can greet racers at the finish line with an evening gondola ride to the top, including a spectacular Sierra sunset and post-race fun at the Summit Sunset Party

About Ezakimak

Ezakimak is Kamikaze spelled backwards. Our legendary Kamikaze mountain bike trail spans from Mammoth Mountain's peak down to Main Lodge, weaving through the "back side" of the mountain. In winter 2015, we started this backwards fun by sending cross-country skiers, snowshoers and runners on a snowy uphill race. After the success of the winter Ezakimak, we kept the idea going and brought a summer version to the dirt for runners and mountain bikers.

What's New

The challenge just got a little easier. We're excited to welcome a new e-bike category to the summer Ezakimak Challenge. Participants using a class 1 pedal assist e-bike can join the fun in July, but are not eligible for prize money.

Ezakiminis

Let the kids loose on a custom Ezakimak Challenge just for them. Racers 14 and under can run or bike their way down to the bottom. At 5PM, we'll start the FREE  Ezakiminis Challenge from the top of Discovery Chair (11). The kids have their own feed station for pre- and post-race snacks and a cold finish line treat, plus a free ride up Chair 11 to start the race. Ezakimini registration is 3–4PM on race day at the Adventure Center.

Event Registration

Entry fee includes race, finisher tech shirt, finisher beer/beverage, bag check at registration and delivery to the summit, gondola ride down after the race, on-course feed stations and Sunset Summit Party at the finish.

Online registration ends July 6 at 12PM.
