January Is Hill Safety Month
Take the time this month to become an expert on hill safety and to live this month’s safety message: "Rip With Respect". With over 13 feet of snow so far this season, it’s important to know the safest ways to have fun on the mountain. Learn about tree wells and how best to avoid Snow Immersion Suffocation (SIS), read the Kids-on-Lifts Safety Tips to enjoy the hill with your family, or educate yourself on the Mammoth Safety Initiatives on the Safety Conduct page.
Prepare your kids to shred the whole mountain by enrolling them in the Junior Hill Safety Program. Open for kids ages 7-12 who are intermediate to advanced skiers and riders, the program allows them to shadow ski patrol for a day, and is a fun way to foster on-the-hill safety awareness. Kids will learn avalanche safety and techniques, basic accident assessment, how to assess terrain, and more. Find out more about the program here, and register them for one of the four dates by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org before spots fill up.
Make sure you’re prepared to hit the hill by knowing the basics of hill safety and the skiers code of conduct, and as always, “Rip With Respect”.
See you on the hill.
