Rentals FAQ

  • Can I pick up my skis at one location and drop them off at another?

    Yes, at any of our on-mountain locations (Main, Canyon and Eagle Lodges, and the Mountain Center @ the Village). There is a small fee for drop-offs at the Mammoth Mountain Inn and Juniper Springs Resort.

  • Can I exchange my ski rental for a snowboard rental?

    Yes you may exchange your skis for a snowboard or your snowboard for skis. There may be a price adjustment for upgrades.

  • Do you rent helmets?

    Yes, all of our stores rent helmets for juniors and adults. Helmets are required for all children 12 and under enrolled in Ski and Snowboard School lessons. Helmets can also be purchased at all rental Locations.

  • What do I do with my skis at the end of the day if I am skiing the next day?

    For your convenience all on-mountain rental shops provide a complimentary ski check. Space can be limited and is operated on a first-come first-serve basis.

  • How long will it take to get equipment?

    We recommend that guests arrive at the rental shop no less than one hour before a lesson or their first run of the day.

  • Do you rent winter clothing?

    Clothing rentals are not available.

  • Do you offer a Ticket Rental package?

    No, we do not offer a ticket/rental package. We do offer rental/ticket/lesson packages for adults and kids that save you time and money by getting all your needs in one stop.

  • Do you offer rental discounts?

    Yes! We offer

    • 10% 7 day advanced purchase discount
    • 5% discount when you pre-pay for two consecutive days
    • 10% discount off a consecutive three day
    • 15% off a consecutive four day
    • 20% discount on a consecutive five day.
    • 10% discount for MVP members.


    Multi-day discounts are valid for adult and senior rentals only; unavailable during the following 2013/14 holidays:

    • Dec 21, 2013 - Jan 5, 2014
    • Feb 15-16, 2014
  • Do you carry demos in child sizes?

    We offer a limited selection of children Demo equipment for skis only.

  • When will I pay for my rentals?

    Payment is required up front for rental equipment. Adults receive the multi-day discounts mentioned above by pre-paying for the total number of days you are renting.

  • What if I cannot decide how many days I will be renting?

    Sorry, multi-day discounts are only available when two or more consecutive days are paid for together up front.

  • When should I return my skis/snowboard rentals?

    Please return your rental equipment at the end of your last day.

  • What happens if I return my equipment early?

    Sorry, no refunds or credit vouchers will be given due to wind, weather or snow conditions.

  • How to speed up the process:
    • Reserve rentals at least 48 hours in advance by calling 800.MAMMOTH or here at
    • Know foot sizes, weights and heights before arriving/ reserving.
    • Arrive at least one hour before you plan to hit the slopes.
    • If you're taking a lesson, arrive at the rental shop at 8am.
    • Rent the afternoon before for no extra charge. Early rental pickup is available from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.
    • Plan ahead. You will need to know how many days you plan to use equipment. You may be eligible for a multi-day discount (adult rentals only).
  • What else can I purchase at rental shops?

    You can purchase lift tickets, lessons and ski accessories such as helmets, goggles and gloves at our rental shops. Sunscreen, lip balm, neck gators, and hand warmers are also available.
