2015/16 Review

Throughout the season, more often than not there was an event transpiring on Mammoth Mountain that was probably at the forefront of raising money, pushing our passions and creating smiles all around.

Here's a look back on some of the Unbound events that helped animate our mountain throughout the past ski and snowboard season.

The Holy Bowly

The Holy Bowly

"The Holy Bowly sessions stand for everything that is right in snowboarding." - Jamie Lynn

Holy Bowly was five amazing days of shredding on a one-of-a-kind custom setup with no rules on how to find the right line. Presented by Snowboy Productions, Monster Energy, Lib Tech and Snowboarder Magazine, the legendary Holy Bowly met the famed Unbound Terrain Parks for the first time ever. So much more than a snowboarding contest, Holy Bowly is an annual international gathering of riders committed to getting as creative as possible on hand-shaped bowls, rollers, berms and transitions with the ultimate goal of sharing the true stoke of snowboarding.

DC Hit and Run

DC Hit and Run

Part slopestyle, part banked slalom and all fun this first of its kind event took the resort by storm in early February. One of the best courses ever started at the top of the 18 foot halfpipe, made its way down through South Park and ended on the Snake run. Keep an eye out for this one in 2017, it's going to fill up fast!

Oakley Week

Oakley Week

With top riders flying in from all over the world Oakley Week was sure to be a hit but nobody could've guessed they would've fired up an entire mountain. Seb Toots and Sven Thorgren tore Main Park into little pieces while Sammy Carlson and ADP were sending it 60 foot off of potato rock underneath chair 1. the energy was palpable. Product demos, new special features and the Oakley Mini-Pipe Challenge all added into the mix to create an unforgettable week.

What's better than fresh powder on opening weekend? Nothing. Opening day 2016 was full of old friends, powder turns and a full park underneath Chair 6. Nobody argued with the claim "best opener in the last ten years".

US Freeskiing and Snowboarding Grand Prix

US Freeskiing and Snowboarding Grand Prix

In between dumps of snow Mammoth Athletes managed to defend their home turf and crushed the competition at this year's Grand Prix. Brandon Davis took the Men's Slopestyle event with room to spare and spent the rest of the week trying to figure out what had just happened. Maddie Mastro, Chloe Kim and Kelly Clark swept the Women's Halfpipe podium and had everyone asking themselves what's in the water up here?
Air + Style LA

Air + Style LA

February's weather in LA was mild to say the least making the construction of a 70 foot scaffolding jump at the coliseum extremely difficult. The crew from the Unbound brought their magical ways down the 395 and somehow created an awesome jump. Musical guests like Kaskade kept the crowd jumping while riders like Mark McMorris, Sven Thorgren and Yuki Kadono well, jumped. One thing's for certain, Shuan White throws a proper party!
JLA Banked Slalom

JLA Banked Slalom

Lower Dry Creek made for the perfect venue for the fourth annual event which benefits the Brothers Skatepark. Shredders of all ages tore down the course in what has become the yearly stage for local bragging rights and has now attracted the fastest in the sport. Multiple Mt. Baker Banked Slalom winner Temple Cummins showed up and did what he's famous for, going faster than anyone else.
