Intro Team (9 yrs & up)
The Intro Team is for skiers wanting to see if being a part of a freestyle (park & pipe) focused coaching program is for them. The purpose of the program is to progress skills in all aspects of park and pipe skiing while having fun and exploring the mountain. Members of this team will train 2 set weekends per month and 1 week during the winter holiday break. They will learn how to ski all the terrain that Mammoth has to offer, gaining skills that will help them in the parks and pipes. The coaches will set goals with the athletes and work all season to achieve them, whether it’s to improve their all mountain skiing or learn tricks in the terrain parks and pipes. This is a non-competition program, meaning athletes are not required to participate in any events, but can if they decide to with the coaching staff present to support them.
Skiers should be able to parallel turn on green and easy blue terrain. All skiers must meet the minimum skiing ability of the Team and display independence, such as being able to put on their skis, buckle their boots and meet at designated locations on runs set by their coach. All new Team members must pass a skiing ability assessment with a coach prior to receiving their uniform and joining the group.
The Intro Freeski Team will begin training in November (conditions permitting). They will ride from 9AM–3PM on all designated training days through the end of April.
