Hiking

Looking for an added adventure?  Skip the gondola ride back down and tackle one of these trails:

Dragon's Back Trail
The trek is 3 miles, but so worth it for the stunning views and bragging rights.
Beginning from the summit, head towards Dragon's Back.  Take in the view of seven stunning lakes below before descending "Hole in the Wall", a winter favorite for skiers and snowboarders. The trail will switchback through the forest ending at the far end of Twin Lakes Campground.  Head towards Tamarack Lodge for an early lunch on the patio, then catch the Town Trolley back to The Village.

Mammoth Mountain Trail

Hike this trail in reverse - beginning from the summit, follow what is know to skiers and riders as "Road Runner".  Take a break and check out Red's Lake near the base of Chair 14 before making the final trek back to Main Lodge, Mammoth Mountain Inn and the Adventure Center.  This trail is 3.9 miles.

No bikes, skis or snowboards are allowed on gondola before normal operation begins.
