Mammoth Mountain offers a variety of fun, seasonal jobs with the benefit of a season pass to ski all winter!  

Most winter employment runs about 150 days, from early November until the end of April, and even longer on heavy snow years!

Winter Seasonal

Outside Operations

Supports the daily operations of the school at the direction of supervisors.  More

Assists with lesson registration and rental process.  Prepares and serves lunches.  Assists in supervising children during breaks.  Set up and tear down of ski school area and may operate surface lifts.

Requirements

We are looking for outgoing, friendly people interested in working with children. 

These will be daytime schedules, and can be tailored to any day of the week, up to a full 40 hour week.

Previous experience working with children such as babysitting preferred.

Teaches Ski & Snowboarding skills. More

Apprentice Instructors are new to the business, often with some teaching experience, up to Level 1 PSIA or AASI certified.

Apprentice Instructors assist in the support functions of the school and mountain operations (rentals, ticket sales, meeting area set-up, lift operations and guest greeting and direction).

They teach skiing to the general public with an emphasis on children in our lesson age group of 3-4 yrs. and 5-12 yrs. The Apprentice Instructor performs a variety of all of the above roles often on the same day. Must be flexible and able to work in variable weather conditions.

 

Requirements

A passion for working with small Children in a winter environment is a prerequisite for this position. Guest service experience required.

Basic skiing skills are required. Previous experience as a day care worker or as a camp counselor is an advantage. Empathy for and an ability to teach children new skills in an unfamiliar environment is more important than your personal skiing ability. On the job training is provided.

Minimum Current Level 2 PSIA/AASI Certification, and three seasons teaching experience.

We are now accepting applications for the balance of the Winter/Spring 2015 Season as well as for those interested in ski testing on-slope and/or making advanced applications with us for the Winter 2015-16 Season.

Administers First Aid and assistance to the guests and employees. More

Acts as a dispatcher and recorder for the department. This is a non-skiing, indoors position.

Requirements

Performs First Aid room duties at any of the First Aid rooms. Room attendant candidates must have current American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response, EMT-1, WFR (Wilderness First Responder) or Outdoor Emergency Care (NSP) and current certification for CPR (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers). You must be at least twenty-one years of age.

Proof of current First Aid and CPR certifications are required prior to hiring on or about Thanksgiving 2015. (Please bring original cards, photo copies are not accepted).

Cards need to be valid at all times during the season (if your card will expire, you must re-certify prior to expiration.)

There are no part-time positions in this department and room attendants generally work full-time schedules, 5 days per week, including weekends and holidays.

Coaches and trains young Freeski athletes. Provides fun, dynamic and safe environment to allow athletes to learn and develop. More

Teaches by example with frequent demonstrations. Maintains accurate daily journal of training activities. Maintains frequent contact with parents on athletic, behavioral and academic issues. Assists in team trips to other areas for competition. Promotes MMSST Team Philosophy and acts as role model for athletes.

Requirements

PSIA, USSA/USASA certification preferred.

High School graduate and fluent in English language. Strong communication and organizational skills. Current membership in USSA. Ability to work in a team structure with other coaches and training groups. Must possess the ability to demonstrate basic freeskiing tricks and skiing techniques.

Basic computer skills required and experience with Word, Exel and Google Docs programs.

We have coaches positions open in our Competitive, Development, Free ride, All Mountain, and Mighty Mites teams, where athletes age range from 6-18 depending on which group is being coached.

Requirements

High School graduate.

PSIA level two or equivalent, or USSA Level 100, 200, 300 Coach.

High skill level and knowledge of the mechanics for skiing.

Fluency in English language.

Pay Grade is contingent on certifications, teaching, coaching, and competitive experience.

A Ski & Snowboard School Supervisor has the ability and experience to manage instructors on a daily and season long basis. Additionally these people can collaborate between different departments to quickly and seamlessly resolve guest and employee issues.

Requirements

The ability to motivate and inspire employees to meet or exceed the standards and expectations of MMSA cannot be overstated.

Minimum qualifications of current Level 3 PSIA/AASI or International equivalent and five (400 hour) seasons as a full time instructor. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Computer literacy (MS office, SIRIUS ware), strong written and verbal skills are essential.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Mammoth Mountain Ski Patroller for the Winter of 2015-16.   Please consider the following information prior to applying for this position.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Advanced level of Alpine Skiing (sorry no Telemark Skiing or Snowboarding), training in slope-specific first aid, hill safety, Avalanche control and Mammoth Mt. Operations.

Requirements

Patrol candidates must have current American Red Cross Emergency Response, EMT-1 or Outdoor Emergency Care (NSP) and current certification for CPR (Professional), including:

 (1) Rescuer adult, infant & child;  
 (2) Rescuer CPR.

You must be at least twenty-one years of age and have advanced alpine skiing ability.  Ski Patrollers are hired from this group.  Employment will be contingent on skiing ability.

Regretfully, we are not considering applicants for this position who lack US Citizenship  (VISA applicants from foreign countries are thus ineligible).

High School graduate and fluent in English language. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a team structure with other coaches and training groups. Must possess the ability to demonstrate basic freestyle snowboarding tricks and freeriding techniques.
