Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, or related sciences, or Engineering, with emphasis on environmental or hazardous material management.
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of facilities; environmental issues, laws, and regulations applicable to integrated businesses such as MMSA; definitions and classifications of hazardous waste and hazardous materials plus their handling and tracking; methods of data analysis, report preparation and procedure writing.
Possess a Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector Certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association or ability to obtain. Possess a Grade I Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board or ability to obtain. Possess a Grade I Water Treatment Operator Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health or ability to obtain. Possess a Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health or ability to obtain.
Experience in industrial risk management, hazardous waste and environmental compliance. Experience in RCRA related facility compliance issues, specifically the development and implementation of policies. Possess a Hazardous Materials Certification or ability to obtain. Current OSHA 40 hour training certification in compliance with 29 CFR 1910.120 or ability to obtain. Class B or above UST/AST Operator certification or ability to obtain. Current DOT HM-181 and 126F training certification or ability to obtain.
Experience with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet applications and preventative maintenance programs. GIS experience desired.
Current California drivers' license.
Demonstrated ability in analytical, verbal, and written communication skills for technical and non-technical individuals. Ability to analyze and evaluate data and use good judgment in making decisions. Ability to do problem solving using creative solutions. Ability to effectively manage the workload including planning, organizing, prioritizing, follow-up, meeting deadlines, and paying close attention to details. Ability to work effectively as a team player.
Ability to respond to environmental emergencies on an on-call basis.
