Biking

Riding in the bike parkAlthough we never like to see the snow melt at Mammoth, it does make way for some of the world's best mountain biking. Whether you're looking for a scenic, two-wheeled stroll, want to break the land speed record while catching some air along the way, or something in between the two, the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park has a trail or two just for you.

At least when it's open -- the Mountain Bike Park is closed for the season but there are still plenty of biking adventures to enjoy this fall. The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center and Ranger Station located at the entrance to town on State Highway 203 can provide you with free mountain biking trail maps.

Serving up everything from boulder-strewn freeride terrain to smooth-as-a-baby's-bottom dirt paths.

  • 100-plus miles of dirt single-track
  • Descend 3,000 feet from Mammoth's summit
  • From expansive vistas to pine tree corridors
  • Seven NEW freeride trails built in the last two seasons

Mammoth Mountain Bike Park opened its newest freeride trail, Twilight Zone this summer. The highlight of this trail is "The Deep End", a nine-foot tall, 50-foot wide, elevated, banked wooden bowl structure that looks like it was airlifted straight from British Columbia, minus the rain, and crappy exchange rate, of course.

The Scenic Gondola provides uphill access for mountain bikers, along with the Bike Park shuttle, which begins in the Village at Mammoth.
