
Summer Itineraries
Coming to Mammoth for a family vacation? We’ve got you covered with a fun weekend itinerary for the whole clan.

Friday
11am Arrive in Mammoth Lakes! Finally you can stretch your legs, clean out the car and breathe in the deep mountain air.
11:30am If you are feeling hungry stop into Grumpy’s Sports Bar on Old Mammoth Rd. There are tons of video games for the kids and plenty of good kid-friendly grub to boot.
Noon It’s time to Mountain Bike! Make your way to The Village Mountain Center to rent bikes so you can cruise around the paved trails of Mammoth Lakes or grab a Bike Park ticket to take your family on the easy downhill trails. Make sure to grab a trail map. Plus you can use the free town bus or bike shuttle to get where you want to go!
4pm Check into your hotel room at Juniper Lodge. It’s your family base camp for the next couple of days. Take a breather at the outdoor pool and hot tub; the kids can swim and you can soak up the sunshine.
6pm Head into The Village at Mammoth and grab a seat by the fire pit for free live music from 5pm-8pm.
7pm Take the family to dinner at Gomez’s. Local’s Tip: The patio is where it’s at – you can hear the live music while you enjoy a range of Mexican dishes.
9pm Get a good night’s sleep. Just make sure to drink plenty of water after your big day. It’ll save you in the morning.
Saturday
8am Start your day at the Mountainside Grill at the Mammoth Mountain Inn, just steps from the Adventure Center/Main Lodge, for a delicious breakfast.
9am Head over to the Adventure Center. Get your tickets for the Reds Meadow shuttle and head to Devils Postpile National Monument for the morning. Experience casual walks and soak in the stunning views of nature or take a slightly more rigorous walk out to Rainbow Falls (approx 2 miles each way). Don’t forget your camera.
12pm Get the whole family together for the scenic gondola ride! When you get to 11,053’ above sea level, sit down at the Lookout Lunch at the Top of the Sierra Café. While you’re there, check out the interpretive center and the stunning views of the Minarets. Don’t forget to take a family photo!
2pm Looks like the family is ready to play at the Adventure Center! Kids love the Zip Line. And the Climbing Wall is fun for the whole family.
2:30pm Take a break and enjoy a yogurt at the Roving Mammoth snow cat, parked in front of the Yodler.
5pm Head to John’s Pizza Works on Main Street for some of Mammoth’s tastiest pizza, as well as a ton of arcade games to keep the kiddos occupied while you unwind with a pint from Mammoth Brewery.
7pm Head to Frosty’s on Old Mammoth Rd for a round of mini golf!
Sunday
9am Gather up the family and get the day started with a quick and hearty breakfast at Base Camp Café on Main Street.
10am Interested in fishing? Stop by McCoy Sports in The Village to rent fishing poles and get a fishing license.
10:30am Take a drive up Lake Mary Rd and discover the Lakes Basin where you can take a gorgeous hike, fish or just skip rocks in this picturesque location.
12pm Swing by the Historic Tamarack Lodge for lunch; it’s a must-see and offers quick bites.
2pm Grab your fishing gear and test your luck on Lake Mamie or the Twin Lakes. Your whole family will enjoy the experience!
4pm End the afternoon with a family hike around the shoreline of Horseshoe Lake. You’ll see amazing views, so don’t forget your camera.
5pm Hit the road and start planning your next Mammoth vacation or if you are sticking around for another night, we’ve got a great evening in the works for the family.
6pm Stop by Von’s and pack a picnic for movie night in The Village. Make sure to bring blankets, grab a chair and bring popcorn! Sundays movies are always kid appropriate and always free!
9pm Rest up for an early morning departure back home.

Friday
Noon Arrive in Mammoth Lakes! Finally you can stretch your legs, throw away the remnants of the drive and breathe in the deep mountain air.
1pm Hungry for a quick bite? Stop into Schat’s Bakery on Main Street for one of the best sandwiches in town. Or get a delicious pastry from the window.
2pm Fore! Hit Sierra Star Golf Course for 9 or 18 holes. Didn’t bring your sticks? Don’t worry – the pro shop features TaylorMade demo clubs. Finish your round at the Chip Shot Café for drinks.
5pm Time to check into your room at the Village Lodge and move into your new digs for the next couple days.
7pm Rally the group together and head to dinner! Barbeque lover? Head to Smokeyard for BBQ and great brews! Prefer sushi? Hit the Whitebark Restaurant at the Westin.
10pm Make your way to Lakanuki where tiki huts and torches await. DJs, bands, dancing and an outdoor pool table will keep you and your friends entertained into the wee hours.
1am Even fun hogs need rest. Just make sure to drink plenty of water after your big day. It’ll save you in the morning. Feeling the atmosphere? Pop some blood thinning aspirin.
Saturday
9am Breakfast is only steps away from your hotel room! Start the morning at the Old New York Deli & Bagel Co. which features delicious bagels and breakfast sandwiches.
10am It’s time to mountain bike! Make your way to the Mountain Center to grab a demo bike and full-day Bike Park ticket. From there you’ll be able to hop the shuttle up to Main Lodge and explore Mammoth’s 85 miles of trails.
10:30am Start the day with warm up runs on lower mountain: Cruise from Main Lodge to The Village. For the more mellow riders, take a lap on Downtown and for air time, head to Shotgun. Everyone can meet up at The Village for the next lap. Once you are feeling the flow, head to 11,053’ on the Panorama gondola for top-to-bottom runs to get the adrenaline racing!
Noon Take a breather and grab lunch on the Yodler deck, next to the base of the gondola. Fill up with classic mountain pub food, great beer and the best views of Mammoth Mountain.
1pm Now that you’ve refueled, it’s time to push the limits on the jump lines in the Bike Park.
4pm It’s après bike time! Head over to the Yodler deck or down to Gomez’s patio in The Village. The post-pedal libations and appetizers in the sun will hit the spot.
6pm Back to the room to shower and get ready for a night out!
8pm Take a short walk to Hyde Lounge to check out their summer dinner menu ranging from steaks to fresh seafood. Don’t forget to order White Sangria or the Burning Mango cocktail to complement your dinner.
10pm No need to move after dinner - Hyde is where it’s at for nightlife! The dance party goes ‘til 2am.
1am Not to be redundant, but hydration rules. Guzzle some water. Your body will thank you in the morning.
Sunday
10am All good things must come to an end. Time to check out. But it’s not time to leave town yet!
10:30am You had so much fun at Hyde last night, it’s time to go back and enjoy the patio in the sun for the new Sunday Brunch. $20 for all you can eat and $25 if you want to add bottomless mimosas – just keep the driver sober.
1pm Feeling better? Head up to the Lakes Basin and take a gorgeous hike around Horseshoe Lake.
2pm Hit the road and start planning your next trip to Mammoth. If you want a quick snack on the way home, stop at Erick Schat’s Bakkery in Bishop for raisin bread and sandwiches.
