  • July 2, 2009: Movies Under the Stars Presents: "Madagascar 2, Escape from Africa". Located at the Village Plaza. Movie begins at dusk. Limited seating so bring your deck chair and/or rug!

  • July 3, 2009: The annual Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra Garage Sale starts at 6:30 a.m. till finished. Lots of fabulous items, clothing, furniture, sports gear... you name it are up for sale! All proceeds benefit Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra. 126 Twin Lakes Lane - just off Canyon Blvd.

  • July 3, 2009: Village Fireworks Display: The Village at Mammoth presents the 3rd July Fireworks to celebrate independence Day! Located at the Village Plaza. Fireworks begin at 9:00pm.

  • July 3 - 5, 2009: Main Street Summer Celebration! The community of Mammoth Lakes is celebrating summer, "Mammoth style" this July 4 with a town-wide party. The three-day party begins Friday, July 3 and concludes on Sunday, July 5, 2009. Mammoth will become a pedestrian and bike friendly community with the closing of two-way traffic on the South Frontage Road. Vehicular access on the South Frontage Road will only be available for west-bound vehicles from July 3 - 5, 2009. Main Street is the focal point for the celebrations; however many businesses throughout town are hosting July 4 summer celebration events.

  • July 3 - 5, 2009: Mammoth Lakes Lions Club Pancake Breakfast! Located on Old Mammoth Road at the Mammoth Mall / Chart House parking lot.   • July 4, 2009: Footloose Freedom Mile Run! The one-mile race starts at approximately 10:10 a.m. (before the start of the Parade), near the corner of Minaret and Old Mammoth Rd in Mammoth Lakes.   • July 4, 2009: Independence Day Parade! Starts at Manzanita and Main St. continues on Main St. and makes a right on Old Mammoth Rd. and ending at Chateau Rd.   • July 4, 2009: Pops In The Park! Kick back at Mammoth Creek Park after the parade (Approximately 12:30 p.m.) and enjoy a live 45-piece orchestra playing patriotic and Hollywood favorites.   • July 4, 2009: Fire Safety Fun Festival! Come and learn how to be fire safe and have fun doing so with Smokey Bear. The Festival starts after the parade until 3:00 p.m. at the USFS Fire Station 2 on Sawmill Cutoff Rd. Admission is free. Call: 760-924-5538 for more information.

  • July 4, 2009: Grumpy's 4th of July Bash & Hot Dog Eating Contest! The 4th of July Bash starts before the parade at 10:00 am with a DJ playing music in the parking lot - Free. There will also be a food tent selling BBQ Pork sandwiches, Hot dogs and beverages. Proceeds benefit the MMHS Football team program. When the Parade ends, the competition begins "Grumpy's 2nd Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest". Sign up now to be a contestant by contacting Red or Scott. The contest costs $25.00 per entry and includes a competitor T-shirt. There will only be 30 people allowed to compete so get in early before it's full. 1st - 3rd place are cash prizes along with honorary trophies.   • July 4, 2009: Mammoth Lakes Police Department Open House! The Mammoth Lakes Police Department invites everyone to its Open House on July 4 at the conclusion of the Independence Day parade. Starting at about 12:30 p.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m., enjoy equipment and program displays, free soft drinks and hot dogs, and tours of the police facility. This is a great chance to interact with officers and other department employees, learn about support services like CERT, and get behind the wheel of a fully equipped four-wheel drive Ford Expedition patrol car. Darren the DARE lion will be on hand for photos, as will be the bicycle and horse units.

  • July 4, 2009: FREE Fishing Day in Mono County! The Department of Fish and Game invite you to fish for free in Mono County - one day only!

  • July 4, 2009: Fireworks at Crowley Lake! This year's Fireworks Show promises to be a bright and beautiful display of color in the spectacular Eastern Sierra setting. The show commences at dusk, approximately 9:15 p.m., weather permitting. Music coordinated with the show will be broadcast over KMMT. Hot Chicks of Mammoth Lakes will be selling BBQ dinners plus beer/wine/beverages. The Crowley Lake Fish Camp convenience store will be open until 8:00 p.m. and will be selling beer, soda, ice cream and snack items. Crowley Lake Fish Camp will also be providing free entertainment from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., featuring "Milo & Chris" of "The Akoustik 2." Remember - no personal fireworks are permitted within Mono County. We want everyone to have fun, be safe and enjoy the 4th. $25.00 per car. $5.00 walk-in.

  • July 4 - 5, 2009: Chalk it Up! Come Watch Artists Create, Improv shows, Hip Hop Dancers of the Brittany Marie Dance Studio. Show times: Saturday 7/4 at 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 pm and Sunday 7/5 at 12:00 & 2:00 pm. Fundraiser to help support the newly formed Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre. All at the Luxury Outlets Parking Lot.

  • July 4 - 6, 2009: Mammoth Celebrates the Arts! Enjoy the beautiful artworks at "Mammoth Celebrates the Arts" in the Footloose parking lot on Friday & Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Trout sculptures will be on display from the "Trail of the Trout" public arts project. There will be pottery, stained glass, photography, bronze, metalwork's, in-laid wood, fine art paintings and other unique handmade items offered by the artist themselves. Fun for all and Free.

  • July 5, 2009: 4th of July Tri at Whitmore Pool! The 4th Annual Triathlon hosted by the Mammoth Lakes Swim Team will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Whitmore Pool. Participants can join either the Sprint Triathlon (500-meter swim/12-mile road ride/3-mile trail run) or Kids Triathlon (100-meter swim/2-mile mountain bike ride/ ½ -mile trail Run).   • July 5, 2009: Fiddlin' Pete Dinner Concert at Pokonobe Lodge! It's the fifth season of Pokonobe Lodge Dinner Concerts featuring Fiddlin' Pete Watercott & Neil Gelvin at the historic Pokonobe Lodge on beautiful Lake Mary. Enjoy a great dinner prepared by Wilderness Catering at 6:00 p.m., followed by an intimate concert by Fiddlin' Pete. This is an evening the whole family will enjoy! Adults: $45.00/Young-un's $20.00
