US Snowboarding Grand Prix
Olympic Snowboarders in Mammoth - January 4-10, 2010
The 2010 US Snowboarding Grand Prix will make three stops in its 14th season. A total of five Olympic qualification competitions will take place before the tour will announce the 2010 Olympic halfpipe team.
After hosting the first Olympic snowboard team announcement in
1998, Mammoth is proud to host the second stop of the three-stop
USSA Grand Prix of Snowboarding tour, January 7-10, 2010.
With two, separate half pipe competitions during four days,
spectators will see some of the most talented snowboarders in the
world fighting it out for a spot on the 2010 Olympic halfpipe
team.
In addition to hosting the halfpipe competitions, Mammoth will
also hold a slopestyle event where athletes will show off their
style on the kickers and course features.
"Mammoth is a great place to hold the Grand Prix. The park staff
and night crew will build the perfect terrain for competition,"
said professional snowboarder and Mammoth local Greg Bretz. "I
think a lot of people will come up to watch the competition and the
crowd at Mammoth will make the event super exciting. It's a great
place to go for Olympic qualifications."
The only resort in North America to offer three different-sized
halfpipes, athletes will compete on Mammoth's 22-foot super pipe
for a chance to qualify for a spot in the reduced field at the
final tour stop where the Olympic team will be named.
Come up and witness history in the making and some epic
parties!
