Join in the 2009 National Safety Week celebrations, kicking off Saturday January 17th! This year the event program is full of fun activities and animation including guest speakers offering tips and advice on hill safety, NSAA's Safety Poster Contest, an appearance by "King" the avalanche dog and daily hill safety questionnaires with prizes & swag to be won! Sign up for the Avalanche Safety Demonstration on Saturday Januray 17 to learn more about transceiver training and retrieval and "A day in the life of a Patroller" on Wednesday January 21, where you'll have the opportunity to shadow a patroller for the day! (sign up in advance by e-mailing lfranklin@mammoth-mtn.com). Take a tour with Woolly and a guest of honor to learn about skiing safely at Mammoth on Saturday January 17, 1pm at Main Lodge or Sunday January 18 at Canyon Lodge at 11am. Other free tours during the week are the "Winter Naturalist Tours" which depart at 10:15am and 1:30pm daily from the bottom of chair 2, and the "Explore Mammoth Tours" which start at Canyon Lodge & Main Lodge Super Signs at 10:15am. The on-hill "Safety Stations" will be set up at Canyon and Main Lodge from 9am-3pm, January 17-19, so come by, take away some freebies and pick up your poster for the NSAA Safety Week Poster Contest!
