The Unbound Terrain Parks at Mammoth Mountain – 7 Parks

World famous.

Three hundred sunny days per year and 400 inches of snow (average) set Mammoth up for optimal park riding. These ideal conditions typically allow us to build quality features on any scale we want, then open them up for blue sky riding 75 percent of the year.

"The two ingredients that make park riding so incredible at Mammoth, besides size, are the weather and the lap time. If it's not snowing, it's guaranteed to be sunny and warm." –Outside magazine, November 2009

The 7 Unbound Parks in order from novice to advanced:
  • 1. Disco Park (easiest). Family fun is the name of the game in Disco Park where small bumps and beginner jibs offer groms and their parents a chance to get a little radical. At Discovery Chair (a.k.a. Ch. 11)/Main Lodge.
  • 2. Wonderland Park. Learn steeze with ease. Featuring our one and only mini-halfpipe and a small jump line. At Chair 7/Canyon Lodge. P.s. If you're new to this whole terrain park thing read "New to Park" - rules that could save your life one day.
  • 3.  X-Course. See South Park below. At Rollercoaster Express (a.k.a. Ch. 4).
  • 4. Forest Trail Park. Hone your skills on a choose-your-own-adventure run where you can hit jumps, cut in for the jibs, make a fun path through the trees and even scoot over to the Super Duper Pipe in Main. At Thunderbound Express (a.k.a. Ch. 6)/Main Lodge.
  • 5. Jibs Galore. At Rollercoaster Express (a.k.a. Ch. 4).
  • 6. South Park. "Not ready to drop in with Mammoth team pros like Eddie Wall and Mason Aguirre on the 60 to 80-foot jumps in the Unbound Park? No worries, South Park has the best beginner/intermediate jumps from fifteen to mellow 30 footers, there're also jibs, down rails, and little kink rails. Also check the awesome boardercross-like course through the woods on South Park."--Transworld Snowboarding, November 2009. At Rollercoaster Express (a.k.a. Ch. 4).
  • 7. Main Park (most difficult). Big and burly, as seen on TV. Make a line out of our array of advanced rails, custom boxes, massive jump lines and 2 halfpipes. "The chairlift laps are the fastest of any mountain I've ever been to—you can do a full lap in eight minutes, so the amount of training you get in is unbeatable. Mammoth started the trend in building big features. The jumps are well manicured. You'll see every professional from the films training here."—Mammoth Team Rider Chris Benchetler, quoted in Outside magazine, November 2009. At Thunderbound Express (a.k.a. Ch. 6)/Main Lodge.
