Tamarack XC Ski Center is now open for the season!

Escape to the serene tree-lined trails of Mammoth's scenic Lakes Basin for an unforgettable winter experience. Nineteen plus miles of freshly groomed skating, classic and snowshoe trails await cross-country skiers and snowshoers of all abilities. In the tranquility of the backcountry, only the sound of winter birds and your own locomotion fills your ears as the bustle of town dissolves. Experience the Sierras in a way few others do: come play in woods.

Our winter classes are in full swing at Tamarack XC Ski Center with cold snow groomed throughout our trail system.

Take the Bus to Tamarack
For the rest of the season, the Orange Line will run from The Village to Tamarack every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. It will return from Tamarack to the Village every 30 minutes at a quarter past and a quarter to the hour.
Depart Village:        8:30, 9:00, 9:30, etc.
                             Last up 5:00 PM
Depart Tamarack:   8:45, 9:15, 9:45, etc.
                             Last down 5:15 PM

Join a naturalist-guided tour on cross country skis or snowshoes during winter full moons.

 

The tour includes equipment, guide for the evening, trail access, a hot (non-alcoholic) beverage and dessert by the Lodge fireplace. Alcoholic beverages are available at the bar. Maximum group is 15 participants. $55 per person.

Complimentary tours on cross country skis tours are held on Fridays and Saturdays and snowshoe tours are held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at Tamarack from December through April.  Tours are led by USFS volunteers. Extreme weather may cancel the tour.

To join the tour, meet at the Ski Center at 11 AM. For more info, please call 760-934-2442.

Tamarack's expert staff of instructors present a season-long winter fitness program for beginner to expert skiers. The Masters Program will start December 4, 2012, for Tuesday sessions and December 8, 2012, for Saturday sessions.

Historic Tamarack Lodge

After exploring nearby cross-country trails, settle in with a hot toddy beside the massive stone fireplace inside historic Tamarack Lodge's cozy lobby. This rustic lodge has been welcoming guests to the shores of Twin Lakes since 1924.

Enjoy a warm drink or stay in a cabin or lodge room with rustic simplicity or deluxe accommodations. The Lakefront Restaurant serves the Eastern Sierra's finest food in an intimate, candle-lit setting.

Tamarack Lodge is a must see for all Mammoth visitors!
