Mammoth Mountain - MVP Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mammoth Value Pass?

The Mammoth Value Pass, or MVP, is the lowest priced, unrestricted season pass we offer. The MVP program is open to the public and current MVP passholders are eligible to renew their pass.

Are there any blackout days for MVP?

            No.

Can I use my pass at June Mountain?

            Yes.

What is PassCash and what are its benefits?

PassCash is cash loaded onto your season pass during the Pass Sale period ONLY and is good at any Mammoth Mountain operated business starting on June 15, 2013. It’s great for kids of all ages who don’t want to worry about carrying cash or credit cards when they’re on the hill. If you load PassCash during the spring pass sales period in $100 increments, we’ll add in a 20% bonus (for instance if you buy $100, we’ll credit your pass with $120). But this promotion is available only at the time of purchase and available in $100 increments.

How do I purchase my MVP pass?

Purchase online at MammothMountain.com or call 800.MAMMOTH

What are my payment options?

We highly recommend using a credit card to purchase your pass because it is the only way to guarantee that we have your order. We accept Visa, MasterCard or American Express with online purchases. For mail-in payment other than a credit card (i.e. money order, etc.) or for international orders, please call Mammoth Vacations at 760.934.0745 between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm PST. Please note that if we do not receive mail-in orders by the date the sale ends we will not be able to process your order, regardless of postmark date. Also, new this year is a Payment that allows you to pay in three small installments.

Is entering my credit card information online safe?

Yes. We use the latest encryption methods to make sure that your personal information is safe and every transaction is secure.

May I use my Courtesy Vouchers to purchase a Mammoth Value Pass?

No. Courtesy Vouchers do not have cash value. They are only valid toward the purchase of another day of skiing, rentals or ski school lessons— not season passes. However, they are transferable so you may pass them on to someone who will be able to use them.

May I use a Mammoth Gift Card to purchase my Mammoth Value Pass?

            Yes.

When and where can I pick up my MVP?

Renewing pass holders will continue to use existing passes which will be activated for Winter use on October 1, 2013.  Liability releases for 2013/14 must be submitted. If Liability Releases are not received by opening day, passes will be deactivated and guests will have to go to the front line to sign the Liability release and have their pass activated.  New members can pick up their passes at a ticket window beginning on April 22.  The Mountain Center, and Canyon and Eagle lodges are planned to close as of April 22, so pick up at the Main Lodge will be the option after that date.

If I purchase a Pass and then for some reason am unable to use it, or even pick it up, can I get a refund or credit?

No. Mammoth Passes are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another person or season. Please consider purchasing Pass Protection to protect your investment.

What if I lose my pass?

There is a fee for replacing a lost pass. Simply bring a photo ID with you to the ticket window during business hours for a replacement pass.

What if I forget my pass?

You will have the opportunity to purchase a lift ticket for $10 (for up to a 3-day ticket) by showing a photo ID at the Main Lodge, Canyon Lodge, Eagle Lodge or the Village's Mountain Center ticket window during business hours.

Why is a youth pass for ages 13-18?

Mammoth Mountain uses the age of 18 as the upper limit on a youth pass based on the average age of most high school seniors. Eighteen is the age of a legal adult.

How do I know which age/price range I am in if I'm on the cusp?

We determine the age/price range you fall under using your age as of scheduled Opening Day. If you are purchasing a Mammoth Mountain Pass this date is November 7, 2013. If you are purchasing a Mountain Bike Park Pass this date is June 21, 2013. If you are purchasing a Tamarack Cross Country Ski Pass this date is Nov. 16, 2013.

Do I get a free Season Pass for my child that is under 6 years old?

We offer complimentary lift tickets to children 6 and under. If you would rather get a season pass to bypass the ticket windows, there is a processing fee of $25 for a 6 and under season pass with proof of age (birth certificate) and valid Adult MVP Pass. The 6 and under passes can be obtained at Mammoth Mountain ticket counters. Child must be 6 years old or under as of November 7, 2013 to qualify for pass.

I'm over 80 years old. Do I get a free Season Pass?

Season passes for seniors incur a $25 processing fee, with proof of age. 80 and over passes can only be purchased at a Mammoth Mountain ticket counter or through 800.MAMMOTH. There is no time limit to purchase an 80 and over pass.

My children take lessons during most visits to Mammoth. Should I buy passes for them?

A lift ticket is complimentary for children enrolled in group lessons. If your child is always in a lesson, a pass is not necessary. However, you will need to purchase a ticket for your child on days they wish to ski and are not enrolled in a group lesson. Please note: Private lessons require a ticket/pass.

If I bought a pass for my child in the spring and they decide to join the Mammoth Junior Race Team in the fall, can I get a refund on their pass?

No. Mammoth Value Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.

I am a business owner and would like to buy 20 passes now and assign names later. Is that possible?

No. Mammoth Season Passes are non-transferable and must have a name assigned to them at the time of purchase. Once purchased, passes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person or season.

What Season Passes can I purchase if I miss the April MVP sales window?

The April sale is the guaranteed lowest price on unrestricted skiing and riding during the 2013/14 season. The pass will still be available for sale after April, but not at the same price.

If I decide not to use my MVP in 2013/2014, can I transfer it to next year?

Once purchased, passes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person or season.  Please consider purchasing Pass Insurance to protect your investment.

My child is under 7 in the 2013/2014 season. Will they be able to get MVP Pass pricing in future years?

Yes, the MVP club is now open to everyone.

How will I receive Activity Pass Add-ons?

Bike Park and Sierra Star activity passes can be picked up this summer when you visit. Tamarack passes need to be picked up at Tamarack and will not be mailed.

What will I need with me to pick up my pass?

A valid photo ID is required to pick up your pass. Youth, child and senior passes will require proof of age (i.e. copy of birth certificate, passport, driver's license, etc.) at the time of pick up. The ID you present must show your appropriate age/year on or before November 7, 2013. New passholders must have their photo taken to pick up their pass. For your security, photos must be taken on-site, in person, which means we will not accept mailed-in photos.

I look nothing like my picture from last season. Can I get another one taken?

Yes. You may have your picture retaken at a ticket window. Please bring your pass with you along with a photo ID to get a new photo. For your security, photos must be taken on-site, in person, which means we will not accept mailed-in photos.

Can someone else pick up my pass for me?

For your security the passholder must be present, whether a new photo is needed or not.

When am I eligible for MVP benefits?

Passholders are eligible for any Mammoth MVP benefits during the time the Pass itself is valid.

How will you let me know about MVP discounts/benefits?

The best way to stay in touch is to provide us with your e-mail address. Sign up now to receive e-mail alerts.

Please note: we do not sell or share your information outside of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.

Will my existing MVP pass become my Premium Pass?

No, you will have a new Premium Pass mailed to you in the fall.

How do I redeem my half-off lift tickets at another resort?

To redeem your half-off ticket, simply present your MVP Premium pass at the resort’s ticket counter. Premium is valid at Alta Snowbird, Aspen/Snowmass, Jackson Hole, Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows and Whistler Blackcomb.

Please Note: Your pass will not be available for use until all installments are paid in full.  The same credit/debit card will be charged for all payments (keep this in mind when you choose your card – it must have an expiration date of August 1, 2013 or later).  The Spring MVP Payment Plan is only for credit/debit card purchasers.  You cannot make your down payment on a credit card and then pay the rest later with a check or cash.  The entire purchase must be completed using the same credit/debit card originally processed. Pass is only valid for the 2013/14 season. There is no Payment Plan option for MVP Premium.

There are NO REFUNDS on Season Passes - even if the Season Pass is never picked up or used. There are also NO REFUNDS on installment payments you have made if you choose to cancel your Payment Plan prior to completing your payments.  The only exception to the NO REFUND policy is for those who opt to purchase Season Pass Insurance. Mammoth Mountain offers this voluntary, opt-in program through Travel Guard to help you protect your purchase.  By purchasing Season Pass Insurance, you may be able to receive all or a portion of the cost of your Pass if you are unable to begin or finish the 2013-2014 winter season in the event of documented injury/illness, pregnancy, relocation (some restrictions apply) or military deployment.
